This November 2025 is also a double historic moment for Morocco: the 50th anniversary of the Green March and the UN’s validation of the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty, which marks a new stage in national unity.
A march of faith and unity that became an eternal symbol
It was on November 6, 1975, that more than 350,000 Moroccans answered the call of the late His Majesty Hassan II to march peacefully towards the Sahara, carrying the red and green flag, the Koran, and a shared dream: that of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.
It has been half a century, and this march is still alive embodying the will, peace, and loyalty of the Moroccan people to their identity and land.
The UN recognizes the legitimacy of the Moroccan plan
History will remember October 31, 2025: the United Nations Security Council voted in favor of a resolution recognizing the autonomy plan presented by Morocco as the realistic and sustainable solution to settle the Sahara dispute.
This vote is an unprecedented international recognition of Morocco’s leadership and the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has consolidated stability, development, and regional cooperation around this project.
A diplomatic and popular victory
Once more, Moroccan flags are flying proudly in every city across the Kingdom from north to south. Celebrations of the 50th anniversary have taken on a new dimension, that of a dream come true.
Thousands of Moroccans hail this move as a diplomatic victory, consecrating the country’s national unity and opening a new pathway towards prosperity for the southern provinces, now a model in sustainable development, investment, and African pride.
